Ashoka fellowships in ancient and medieval Indian history/archaeology (Research Grant)
With the generous funding from Anupa Sahney the Centre for Interdisciplinary Archaeological Research (CIAR) of Ashoka University invites qualified scholars to apply for fellowships (research grant) in ancient and medieval Indian history/archaeology. These are aimed at encouraging field research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and documentation of archaeological remains, museum collections, manuscripts, vernacular writings, and archives.
Ashoka is India’s first Liberal Arts and Sciences Research University. Located near Delhi, it integrates the humanities and social sciences with the natural and mathematical sciences. It is recognised as one of India’s best universities, with a world-class faculty across all its disciplines.
Scholars across India with a record of excellence in research in this field are encouraged to apply. Selected fellows will receive a grant of Rs 3.0 lakhs for 18 months. Fellows are expected to publish an article on the work they undertake during the fellowship and interact with the Ashoka community. A seminar presentation on the project is desired.Interested scholars should send a detailed curriculum vitae together with a description of their vision for research in ancient and medieval Indian history/archaeology to the Ashoka Research Office at research.office@ashoka.edu.
