Ph.D. University of California, RiversideAn applied microeconomist by training, she holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Riverside. Her research interests lies in the intersection of development, health, gender, environment and labor economics.
Her research contributes to the growing literature on the dynamics of human capital formation, where she is interested to understand the causal linkages between early environment and later life outcomes (health, fertility, cognition, schooling, labour market outcomes and inter-generation mobility). Her research primarily uses large micro-level data, often longitudinal, from developing country setting.
She is also interested to look at measurement issues involved in using self-reported data and the use of innovative survey tools in addressing those issues.
Aparajita has published in Economic Development and Cultural Change, Economics Letters, Health Economics, IZA Journal of Development and Migration, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Population Economics, The Journal of Development Studies, Oxford Economic Papers, Population and Development Review, Review of Development Economics, amongst others.
I am an applied micro-economist by training and my research mainly deals with policy-relevant questions that crosscut Development Economics, Health Economics and Labour Economics. In the past decade, applied microeconomics has broadened its focus on the dynamics of human capital formation to examine the importance of early childhood investments on later life outcomes and understanding how these decisions on how much to invest at each stages of life are made at the household level. My work contributes to different aspects of this growing literature. Within this broad area I have been working on a wide range of research topics as following.
