Varun Andhare holds an MA in Cultural Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. His research revolves around stardom and politics in Hindi cinema, particularly in the context of new media; his Master’s dissertation was on the Hindi actress Kangana Ranaut. Outside the classroom, Varun contributes book reviews on a freelance basis for the Deccan Chronicle. His ICT courses have consisted of the study of film, food, urban space and literature through the lens of Cultural Theory, anchoring these themes alongside an abiding emphasis on the classroom as a space for community-building.
