The Department of Philosophy offers a Philosophy Major, an Advanced Major, a Minor, and a Concentration. It also offers courses that are a constitutive part of the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics Interdisciplinary Major, the Psychology and Philosophy Interdisciplinary Major, and the Philosophy and Computer Science Interdisciplinary Major.
Ashoka Philosophy graduates will be well prepared for higher studies in philosophy or a career in industries like media, law, business, and consulting. Philosophy students are active in the Philosophy Society, the Philosophy Helpdesk, and organized the PhilCon, India’s first undergraduate Philosophy conference.
To earn a 3 Year Philosophy Major, students must complete at least 12 courses (48 credits) in Philosophy and another course in any area. The 12 courses are:

Any Ashoka 4th year undergraduate student is eligible to write a thesis in Philosophy. A typical thesis writer will be a major in Philosophy, PPE, PHICS, or PSYPHI. In exceptional circumstances, a student with a major in another discipline may write a Philosophy thesis.
Philosophy and Computer Science (PHICS) is an interdisciplinary major combining Philosophy and Computer Science.
