Spring at Ashoka University: More Than Just a Season
“Spring is more than just a season at Ashoka University; it is a blend of nature’s beauty, serenity, and celebration.”
As the days get warmer and spring tiptoes into the beautiful land of Sonipat, the campus transforms into a vibrant canvas painted with yellow, pink, and red hues from the blooming flowers. Trees across the University come to life with bright yellow blossoms adorning them, with one that stands out with beautiful lavender-coloured flowers. The Ashoka campus slowly turns into a scenic landscape, mesmerising enough to capture the hearts of all who set foot on its soil. A gentle breeze flows seamlessly across the campus, carrying a sense of calm that offers your mind the much-needed relaxation it craves. I am not exaggerating when I say that spring at Ashoka is nothing short of magical.
The overall ambience on campus during this time of the year is way too good for Ashokans to spend it indoors. From morning to night, the people on campus – students, faculty, staff – find different moments of escape from the mundane and bask in the beauty of campus life during spring, when Ashoka, as I’d like to say, is in full bloom.
During dawn, you’ll find most Ashokans enjoying a hearty breakfast across campus, watching the sun rays slowly brightening every nook and corner of the University. It is the perfect time to recharge your mind and body to go on and conquer the day that lies ahead. Afternoons are comparatively warmer and suitable for short breaks under the shade of the lush green trees spread across the campus. The weather is perfect for sipping fresh lemonade while lying at the perfect spot on the lawn to grab a quick breather. As the day progresses, the golden sunset adds an ethereal charm to the campus. The sky, ablaze with shades of orange and pink, casts a warm glow over the red-bricked buildings, setting the perfect scene for students to sip on tea or coffee and soak in the beauty of nature.
Whether lounging on the campus lawns, basking in the afternoon sun, or enjoying the cool breeze, Ashokans find solace in these simple moments of joy and relaxation.
Spring at Ashoka is not just about nature’s bloom, it is also a season of celebration. March saw several events that filled the campus with a wave of thrill and enthusiasm. Vibrant decorations were spread across the lawn area, and a competitive spirit could be felt in the air during the much-awaited Dorm Olympics. Inspirational stories and progressive discussions enlightened the audience at the TEDx Talks, while the Ashoka Literature Festival became a hub for literary enthusiasts with engaging sessions and a soulful performance by the Indian Ocean Band. The lively Neev Haat brought the neighbouring community closer to the Ashokans, where students and local artisans came together to celebrate local craftsmanship and witness the joy of moving ahead with support from each other.
With the academic year nearing its completion, this time of the year holds a special significance. For many students, this season marks the beginning of farewells. Some are preparing to step out into the world beyond Ashoka, carrying with them cherished memories and invaluable learnings that have shaped their perspectives towards life. Others are savouring their remaining days on campus, making the most of every moment before they embark on their next journey.
Spring at Ashoka is more than just a season; it is a blend of nature’s beauty, serenity, and celebration. It is that time of the year when Ashokans take a moment to pause and look back at their journey so far, ready to move forward with renewed strength, be it beyond campus or on to the next semester.
As flowers bloom and the breeze carries whispers of change, the Ashoka campus readies itself for what lies ahead, with one purpose – to provide students with a space where their dreams can take flight.
